Hatchling Candle Sand Bundle | Small | Olive Green

Our ever-popular Hatchlings are quite literally born through fire, and this is where their story truly begins. Handcrafted from our unique Eco Concrete Mix, each Hatchling contains over 80% recycled content, which is revealed in this subtle, earthy olive-green coloured bowl. Designed to endure intense heat well beyond that of a burning candle, they are naturally flame-resistant and beautifully suited to pair with candle sand and cotton or hemp wicks.

The surface is gently etched to expose the raw textures of the recycled elements beneath, giving every Hatchling its own quiet personality, while the carved shapes around the bowl allow candlelight to spill through and dance across nearby walls. Carefully sealed on the inside with food-safe natural oils and waxes, each Hatchling feels both ancient and purposeful. A small, sculptural bowl ready to cast a warm, flickering glow in any space.

A few tips…

👉 You can use 1 or 2 wicks. Cut them 3cm - 4cm long, leaving about 0.5cm - 1cm above the Candle Sand and 4cm - 5cm apart.

👉 Ensure the wick doesn’t touch the bottom of the Hatchling. This makes it easier to remove the hardened wax later, by not sticking to the bottom of the bowl.

👉 Add a few drops of your favourite fragrance or essential oil near (not on) the wick.

👉 When finished, let it cool and re-light (if you have wick left), or pull out the hardened wax and remove any remaining wick. Pop the hardened wax into the calico bag and crush it. Add the crushed wax back into the bowl and cover with fresh Candle Sand for a brand new candle look and feel with zero waste.

👉 If you find that the wax has hardened and stuck to the Hatchling, empty out any loose Candle Sand, and use a plastic or wooden implement to pop or scrape the wax out. Make sure you do not put any pressure on the edges of the Hatchling.

A few things to note…

✅ 250g of Candle sand will give you over 40 hrs of burn time if you re-use your wax.

✅ For every 1cm of wick you get approx. 1.5 hrs burn time.

✅ You can time the the length of your burn by cutting the wick to the required length.

✅ You get a melt pool approximately 4cm - 6cm with our cotton wicks. This depends on the size of the vessel, temperature and if there is any breeze.

✅ The kraft zip lock bag is designed so it is easy to pour the Candle Sand into your Hatchling and can be closed to keep your Candle Sand clean.

Be mindful that each piece is hand made and unique, therefore may have some subtle variations in colour, texture and finish - such as small voids caused by trapped air. These are not flaws but features that make Concrete truly beautiful and unique. We have tried to replicate the colours and textures in our images as accurately as possible, but some screens may show slightly different colour tones to real life.

⚠️ Safety Precautions

When using your Hatchling as a vessel for Candle Sand, please be aware that the flame from a candle can heat up the concrete, so make sure it's kept on a non-flammable heat resistant surface. Always place your candle sand in a heat-safe container before lighting. Keep burning candles away from drafts, flammable materials, and out of reach of children or pets. Never leave a lit candle unattended, and allow wax to cool completely before removing or refilling. Enjoy your natural glow safely and responsibly.
