Our Concrete Bowl is designed to be both beautiful and practical, pairing perfectly with Candle Sand to bring a soft, cosy glow to any space, from your coffee table or bookshelf to a bedside nook, sideboard, or even an outdoor setting.

Candle Sand, also known as Pearl or Sand Wax because of its small grains of wax, is quickly becoming a favourite, and it’s easy to see why. It’s wonderfully simple to use, creates a fresh-looking candle every time you light it, and leaves virtually no waste thanks to the ability to reuse the hardened wax again and again. It’s also designed with safety in mind, naturally self-extinguishing if accidentally knocked over. Our candle sand is made from non-GMO palm wax that is sustainably sourced, and clean burning, so you can enjoy the warm glow knowing you’ve made a more mindful choice.

Each concrete bowl is crafted using our signature Decorative Concrete Mix, a blend we’ve carefully developed ourselves over the years at Papa & DeeDee. Created with both beauty and sustainability in mind, this unique mix can contain up to 50% recycled materials, including post-consumer glass, giving every bowl its own subtle character while treading a little lighter on the planet. They are sealed with food safe natural oils and waxes, making it safe for your home.

How to use…

A few tips…

👉 You can use 1 or 2 wicks. Cut them 3cm - 4cm long, leaving about 0.5cm - 1cm above the Candle Sand and 4cm - 5cm apart.

👉 Ensure the wick doesn’t touch the bottom of the Bowl. This makes it easier to remove the hardened wax later, by not sticking to the bottom of the Bowl.

👉 Add a few drops of fragrance or essential oil near (not on) the wick.

👉 When finished, let it cool and re-light (if you have wick left), or pull out the hardened wax and remove any remaining wick. Pop the hardened wax into the calico bag and crush it. Add the crushed wax back into the bowl and cover with fresh Candle Sand for a brand new candle look and feel with zero waste.

👉 If you find that the wax has hardened and stuck to the Concrete Bowl, empty out any loose Candle Sand, and use a plastic or wooden implement to pop or scrape the wax out. 

DO NOT PUT THE CONCRETE BOWL IN THE MICROWAVE!!

A few things to note…

✅ 200g of Candle sand will give you about 40 hrs of burn time if you re-use your wax.

✅ For every 1cm of wick you get approx. 1.5 hrs burn time.

✅ You can time the the length of your burn by cutting the wick to the required length.

✅ You get a melt pool approximately 4cm - 6cm with our cotton wicks. This depends on the size of the vessel, temperature and if there is any breeze.

✅ The kraft cylinder is designed so it is easy to pour the Candle Sand into your Concrete Bowl and also be re-used when you buy our re-fill packs. They also look good so you can keep it next to your Concrete Bowl, making it easy to re-fill.

Be mindful that each piece is hand made and unique, therefore may have some subtle variations in colour, texture and finish - such as small voids caused by trapped air. These are not flaws but features that make Concrete truly beautiful and unique.

⚠️ Safety Precautions

When using the Concrete Bowl as a vessel for Candle Sand, please be aware that the flame from a candle can heat up the concrete bowl, so make sure it's kept on a non-flammable heat resistant surface. Always place your candle sand in a heat-safe container before lighting. Keep burning candles away from drafts, flammable materials, and out of reach of children or pets. Never leave a lit candle unattended, and allow wax to cool completely before moving or refilling. Enjoy your natural glow safely and responsibly.
